In 2023, we took a significant step by joining the national 988 hotline, becoming the exclusive regional service for Marion and Polk counties. This ensures that local, tailored support is available to meet your needs. The hotline served as a lifeline for over 30,000 calls last year, including 2,000 suicide interventions, as we guided individuals and families through life’s most challenging moments.

What Happens When You Call 988?

When you dial 988, you are connected to trained crisis responders ready to provide support.

  • Press 1 for the Veterans Crisis Line
    You will be connected to responders from the Department of Veterans Affairs who specialize in supporting veterans.
  • Press 2 for Spanish
    Spanish-speaking responders are available, so there’s no need to speak English to access support.
  • Press 3 for LGBTQI+ Youth
    Dedicated support is available for LGBTQI+ individuals aged 25 and under.
  • If you choose none of these options, or press 0, your call will be routed to the nearest local center for assistance.
